Class 3L

Miss Lowe  &  Mrs Townsend

Welcome to class 3L! I am so happy to see my lovely new class in person this term! I am Miss Lowe and I work alongside our lovely Teaching Assistant Mrs Townsend.

This term we will be studying The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as our English topic and are reading this daily as our class novel. Children will complete VIPERS tasks, guided reading and writing on this topic as part of our English unit. Children will also complete spellings which I will send home for children to practice for our weekly spelling test on Friday.

Home Reading

Children should read regularly every day, this is the most important homework the children have. Listen to your child read for about ten minutes and then ask them questions about what they have just read. It is also important that children experience a wide variety of reading books at home, as well as school.

In Maths we follow the 'White Rose' scheme and our focus for this term is place value and multiplication and division.

Topic, Art and DT

In topic we are studying the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings which is very exciting! Children will have the opportunity to create their own viking jewelry and helmets as part of their DT project.

PE will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays and children are expected to come to school in their PE kit which includes:

  • Black/Navy Jogging Bottoms
  • White T-shirt
  • School cardigan/ Jumper
  • Trainers

Please can I ask that all parents ensure PE kit and uniform all have names written in them to ensure they don’t get lost.

Homework will be sent out every Friday and children will have a week to complete this but are more than welcome to bring it in early. The homework may include spellings, times table practice or reading activities. I expect children to be reading with parent/guardians several times a week to practice their skills.

Children are allowed to bring a water bottle into school in case they are thirsty through-out the day.

As your child’s teacher I am here if you ever need me, please don’t hesitate to contact the school on 01254 702119, lines are open 8am-4.30pm.
