Class 3L

CLASS 3L

Miss Lowe  &  Mrs Townsend

Welcome to 3L's class page! If you would like to see what we have been learning have a look at our class blog below.

English

This half term our class novel is ' Esio Trot.' Children will complete VIPERS tasks, guided reading and writing on this topic as part of our English unit. Children will also complete spellings which I will send home for children to practice for our weekly spelling test on Friday.

Home Reading

Children should read regularly every day, this is the most important homework the children have. Listen to your child read for about ten minutes and then ask them questions about what they have just read. It is also important that children experience a wide variety of reading books at home, as well as school.

Maths

In Maths we follow the 'White Rose' scheme and our focus for this half term is 'Statistics' and 'Length and Perimeter'. I will also be sending home times tables for the children to practice alongside the ten minutes practice we have daily.

Topic, Art and DT

In topic this half term we will be studying History and our focus is The Romans.  This half term we will be looking at creating a pop up book in DT linking with ournovel, 'The Iron Man'.

PE

PE will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays and children are expected to come to school in their PE kit which includes:

  • Black/Navy Jogging Bottoms
  • White T-shirt
  • School cardigan/ Jumper
  • Trainers

Please can I ask that all parents ensure PE kit and uniform all have names written in them to ensure they don’t get lost.

Homework

Homework will be sent out every Friday and children will have until the following Friday to complete this but, are more than welcome to bring it in early. Homework may include spellings, Maths work or reading activities. I expect children to be reading with parent/guardians several times a week to practice their skills.

Children are allowed to bring a water bottle into school in case they are thirsty through-out the day, this will be placed at the back of the classroom.

As your child’s teacher I am here if you ever need me, please don’t hesitate to contact the school on 01254 702119, lines are open 8am-4.30pm.
