CLASS 4S HOME LEARNING 04.05.2020

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re feeling refreshed after the weekend and are ready for the week ahead. Did you get up to anything fun?

Let’s begin with 20 minutes of reading. You can read a book at home or if you log on to Purple Mash, chapter 1 of ‘Dark Castle’ is on your 2dos to read. Read it carefully, clicking on the underlined words to check their meaning and then complete the chapter 1 quiz. If you have read your own book then please answer three questions from your reading tasks, please answer these in your books.

Now find week 2 day 1 in your learning pack. Please complete today’s spellings by using the look/say/cover/write/check method. Did you get the right? Don’t forget to keep practising any that you are still finding tricky. Next write a sentence for each work either on that sheet or in your exercise book. Please use a conjunction or comma in your sentence to make it a super detailed complex sentence with adjectives, adverbs and different punctuation. Check and self-edit once you are done.

For maths, use the numbers below to create your own subtraction number sentences. You can choose to add 3 digit numbers and use the column method to find the answer. Don’t forget to show your working out. As an extra challenge, can you make up 5 worded problems? Write these with the working out and answers in your book.

For English, have a look at the verbs I have given you today. Use a thesaurus online to level up these words. Write down as many different ones as you can, then write a sentence for 10 of these new words. Don’t forget to use adjectives, conjunctions and interesting punctuation.

Finally, choose a science challenge to complete from your grid and complete in your exercise book. There are also lots of science 2dos to have a go at on purple mash this week.

Great work!
