This morning I would like you to focus on some reading. If you haven't already you need to set up a oxford owl account so you access all their online ebook library. It's got a selection of book banded school books that will be suitable for your child to read and have discussion activities in them for you to work on with your child.

I have sent home a reading book in your pack which has a sticker on showing which colour band you child is on, for instance if it shows a white sticker then they are white book band. Just select the correct colour band and it will give you a selection of books for you to read.

Learning and using different vocabulary is so important. I would like you to have a look at synonyms (different words that have a similar meaning).

Follow the link to the oxford owl activity where you have to find the 5 words listed and then find 5 more words that have similar meanings to those in the word search. You hold down on the first letter with your mouse and drag it down to select the whole word. See if you can get all 10!

Then can you write out 10 sentences neatly using each of the those words. Try to make your sentences as interesting as possible.

Today I would like you to go on a shape hunt. See how many things you can find in your house that are a square, rectangle, triangle, circle, star, oval, pentagon, hexagon shape. Write the name of the shape down and then write a list of all the things that you can spot that are that shape too. Draw a picture with it too.

Can you write down any properties about the 2D shapes? e.g. a square has 4 straight sides, 4 vertices (corners), 4 right angles, 4 lines of symmetry.

I've stuck with the shape theme. I have set you a 2do on purple mash to decorate the 2D shapes and turn them in to something that would normally be that shape e.g. a bus is a rectangle.

Main task today! Sign up to oxford owl so you can access all the great book banded ebooks and read regularly.
