Hello everyone. Hope you had a lovely weekend.

The start of a new week, can you believe it is May already?

Hope we are all ready for today's work 🙂

Today I would like you to choose one of your reading comprehensions. Read through it carefully, highlight any important information.

Now answer the questions. Answer in full sentences.

When you have finished I want you to list three new facts you learnt.

In you packs find Writing Opportunity 3. I have copied it below in case you has misplaced it.

The start of this task involves you researching deforestation.

Here are some links to help you:

deforestation - Kids | Britannica Kids | Homework Help

Deforestation is the clearing, or cutting down, of forests. The word is normally used to describe the actions of humans in removing forests from the planet, rather than destruction caused by such natural events as hurricanes.

What Is Deforestation For Kids: Information And Facts

Deforestation is the removal of a forest so that the land on which it stood may be put to another use. Deforestation occurs for a number of reasons (see below), the most common being the conversion of the once-forested land into farmland, either for growing crops or for keeping livestock. Forests that are naturally occurring and which have ...

In preparation for our leaflet, I would like you to write 3 paragraphs telling me all about deforestation.

Your writing should answer the questions below.

What is it?

Who is to blame?

Where does it happen?

Why does it happen?

What are the effects of it?

Use formal language to state the facts. Imagine you are telling someone from a lower year group all about this, so it must be easy to understand, don't just copy out the facts, put them into your own words.

I would like you to complete the 15 questions above.

Things to remember:

Place value

Decimal points

Multiplying by 10, 100, 1000 (how many place value jumps will your number take?)

I will email the answer later today on Purple Mash so you can mark your own work.

In your pack I included a task which involved producing a piece of art with you favourite things to do on.

This can include your favourite sport, game, TV programme, walk, subject, song, exercise, film, absolutely anything.

You write it in fancy writing and then draw a picture to represent it. Keep your drawing small so you can fit lots of different things on.

Have a look in your pack for the two examples I included. Make it bright and exciting, and most of all something that represents you!

Have fun with this, I would love to see the completed pieces! Maybe we could make a display when we return?

Lastly, see if you can beat your high score from Friday!

Enjoy everyone!

Miss Connearn
