Miss. Darby – 1:1 support

Hello and welcome to our year 1 / 2 class page. We have lots of amazing support in our classroom to help all children flourish.

Key information

Spelling – Each Friday your Yr. 2 child will be given a list of spellings to learn. The following Friday they will be tested on them.

Maths - Each Friday your child will be given maths activities on the various topics that we have covered in class. Maths homework is intended as practice, they will not be expected to learn anything new at home, if your children struggle please let Mrs Brandon know.

Reading - As always, we expect children to be reading to an adult at least 3 times a week- recorded in their reading record. Pupils read with an adult at school at least twice a week but the more practice the better!

Our Curriculum

Please see our curriculum page for a detailed outline of the all objectives the children will cover this half term.

We have sessions on Reading, Writing, Maths and Phonics daily. We also have weekly sessions on Science, Computing, PE, History, Geography, RE, Art, DT, PSHE, Forest school and Music.

Reading

Ideally, children should be reading at home for at least 5 to 10 minutes a day. This is so important for their development and can make a huge difference to their reading skills! Reading a book more than once helps build confidence, fluency and word recognition.

We ask that you support your child in this and sign their reading record every time you hear them read. Please make sure book bags are brought into school every day.

P.E – Our P.E days are Wednesday and Thursday. Please can we ask that your child comes into school wearing a full P.E kit. This includes a plain white P.E top, trainers, black or navy joggers, and a school jumper.

Forest school Our Forest school session is run on a Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Cummings. Please make sure your child is sent in with appropriate weather clothing & footwear to get changed into.

Thank you for your support in your child’s education, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
